Body material

Use spruce top and Meranti bottom and sides.

Gysen uses imported Engelman spruce, grown in the mountainous regions of western North America. It is lightweight, soft, has a straight grain, and a pale yellow color that resists darkening. Its characteristic tone is bright, sharp, and mature, with a richer mid-range than more common Sitka spruce.

Spruce has a long opening time, allowing the guitar's tone to develop significantly over time. Spruce is commonly used for the tops of mid-range and high-end guitars, producing a crisp sound that's ideal for chord playing and solo singing.

Meranti is the Indonesian name for woods of the genus Shorea. Another common name for Meranti is Lauan, and this wood is sometimes also called Philippine Mahogany. Meranti wood is hard and has a crisp, bright tone, making it a popular substitute for mahogany. Some entry-level guitars from the renowned Japanese brand Yamaha use this material for their backs and sides.

Gysen brushed guitars undergo multiple brushing processes by brush artists, creating traces of life on their originally plain appearance, giving each piece a unique look.
