The KROSS 2 is a compact, portable workstation with a wide sonic range. While maintaining its ultra-lightweight, compact design and battery-powered operation, it enhances the sound and functionality of the original KROSS. In addition to over a thousand preset sounds, it adds expanded PCM memory. Another new feature is the pad sampler, enabling comprehensive sampling and USB audio/MIDI interface functionality. The color scheme is more stylish, and the user interface is intuitive even for beginners.

Detailed introduction

A rich variety of over 1000 preset sounds
KROSS 2 expands the polyphonic range from 80 to 120 sounds and dramatically increases the number of internal programs from 809 to 1,075. It includes multi-pitched pianos and electric pianos, thick strings, and other new sounds suitable for any band, as well as the latest drum kits covering current styles such as EDM. This extensive program selection caters to your needs from live performances to studio productions.

Built-in extended PCM memory and support for optional libraries.
The KROSS 2 now offers 128 MB of built-in expansion PCM memory. By selecting from optional libraries released after the KROSS 2, you can expand the KROSS 2's internal sound to suit your performance style or situation.

The EDS-i sound engine boasts rich expressiveness and comprehensive effects.
The high-quality EDS-i Enhanced Clarity Synthesizing Integrated Sound Engine is inherited from KORG's professional synthesizers. You can use a total of seven effect units simultaneously: five insert effect units and two master effect units. 134 high-quality effects are available, including standard effects such as delay and reverb, as well as amplifier modeling, vintage effect units, and even vocoders, providing a rich range of expressive possibilities.

Excellent sampling capabilities and pad sampler
The KROSS 2 features a unique sampling capability, offering 16 playable pads. You can record input from the LINE IN jack and assign stereo samples up to 14 seconds long to each pad. Up to four pads can be triggered simultaneously. You can edit sample waveforms using features such as start/end loop point setting and normalization, and even resample within the KROSS 2, allowing for large-scale sampling without any additional equipment. Long audio files from an SD card can also be assigned to these pads.

1. Real-time control section
The new Real-Time Controls section lets you directly control KROSS 2's key parameters without navigating menu hierarchies. In addition to real-time control of sounds and effects and easy editing, you can also easily control vocoder settings or adjust the speed of the arpeggio and sequencer using knobs.
2. Favorites function
The Favorites feature lets you register frequently used programs and combinations and call them up with a click, even expanding to allow 128 favorites—twice the number in the first-generation KROSS. This feature is ideal for live performers who need quick access to a specific set of sounds on stage.
3. Quick layering/segmentation
With the help of a dedicated quick layer/split button, the layer/split function is now easier to set up, allowing you to layer two sounds or assign individual sounds to the left and right areas of the keyboard.
4. Category Dialing
It offers a category wheel, allowing you to instantly find the sound you're looking for among numerous options. Simply select a general sound type, such as piano or organ, and then make your selection quickly and efficiently.
