Korg's MS-20 mono synthesizer, first introduced in 1978, remains a coveted instrument thanks to its thick, powerful sound, robust signature analog filters, and versatile jumper options.

Today, the MS-20's sound has been reborn as the MS-20 Mini. The engineers who developed the original MS-20 perfectly replicated its circuitry and installed it in a body scaled down to 86% of the original size, while retaining the original's unique appearance, which has not faded despite the passage of time.

Features

2VCO/2VCF/2VCA/2EG/1LFO structure
The MS-20 mini reproduces the unique synthesis of the MS-20; two oscillators with ring modulation, and an envelope generator with hold and delay.
VCA retains the basic design of the original, but the modified version produces less noise than the original.

Unique distortion self-oscillating high-pass/low-pass filter
One of the most distinctive features of the MS-20 is its powerful filter, which provides resonance on both the high-pass and low-pass sides. Maximizing this resonance causes the filter to self-oscillate like an oscillator, producing unique and dramatic tonal variations that are unparalleled.
The filter circuitry was modified during the MS-20's production lifecycle; the MS-20 mini used an earlier filter, which was considered superior due to its more aggressive sound.

External signal processor (ESP) used to process external signals.
The ESP inherits the experimental spirit of the MS-20; it allows you to control the synthesizer using the tone or volume of an external audio source.
For example, you can input an electric guitar and use the MS-20 mini as a guitar synthesizer, or input a microphone and use it as a vocal synthesizer.

An extremely flexible repair system
The wiring system provided on the right side of the panel allows you to create complex sounds by changing the connections between the individual units by plugging in cables.
The possibilities are limited only by the user's imagination; different combinations of modulation inputs/outputs and triggers, samples and holds, and noise generators can produce an incredible variety of sounds.
By making repairs based on the MS-20 flowchart printed on the panel, even beginners can immediately begin to take advantage of these possibilities.
