Our wish: Let more people fall in love with music
When I was learning guitar in junior high school, I never thought that music would be my lifelong career. I am not a top student in the music department, nor do I graduate from a prestigious university... I am just a Hong Konger born in the 1980s who lives in a public housing estate and loves music. So since I started teaching guitar in 2001, I never expected that there would be Parkland today. It is all due to grace that Parkland has grown to what it is today. There is nothing I can boast about.
There was a time in my teaching career when I was the most "chur"...teaching from 10 a.m. to 3 or 4 a.m. I especially remember one student who had an exam the next day. We worked together in the studio until 4 a.m. It was so exciting! Although it is "chur", it is all worth it to see the students learn something and see their smiles as they enjoy the performance on stage.
Although music is beautiful, the practice process is hard. However, I believe that as long as one truly loves music, even if the practice process is hard and long, he or she will definitely enjoy it. Therefore, Parkland aims to make students fall in love with music. We hope that students can enjoy music, rather than just for exams or certificates. If students are forced to practice and no longer like music, I would think it is a great pity, because music can be a good companion on the journey of life.
Music plays a very important role in my life: it accompanied me through the lows in my life, made me happier when I was happy, and even I met my wife because of music. I am really happy to be able to enjoy music! So I really hope to introduce music, this great gift from God, to more people.
